BIKEFEST '97: 2nd Annual Rural Heritage Tour

Carolina Tarwheels Bicycle Club presents:
BIKEFEST '97: 2nd Annual Rural Heritage Tour
Saturday, August 9, 1997, 8:00 AM
Hillsborough, NC

Last year's inaugural Rural Heritage Tour drew over 300 cyclists from throughout NC. This year's event will be bigger and better. Choose from 100-mile, 62-mile, 31-mile, 8-mile rides through beautiful rural landscapes and past stately historic farmsteads. Fully supported with rest stops (w/facilities), food and drink, cellular-equipped sag vehicles, maps, and mechanical support. Registration is only $15.00 and includes T-shirt (guaranteed to pre-registrants only prior to 7-20-97) and free family pass to Triangle Sportsplex. For brochure, call Lori Shapiro @ 919-933-9110 or Don Belk @ 919-732-1793, or email: tarwheels@unc.edu Additional information may also be found on the Tarwheels' web page at www.cs.duke.edu/~carla/tarwheels.html

P.S. addressing an earlier concern from your club, most of the irksome rough roads of last year's event have been resurfaced. Smooth spinnin' and tons-o-fun to be had by all!

Note: I rode the inaugural RHT last year and it really is a well-organized event with a good route and good support. Whatever distance you choose, this is a ride worth taking in. -DLC
