Granville County Century (with special Lottery opprotunity!)

A 100 mile ride from around Wake Forest, NC to Virgilina, VA (and did I mention, Virginia has a lottery!).

Date: Saturday Jan 12, 8AM (rain date: Sat. Jan 19, 8AM)
Speed: C (13-15mph) moderate hills.
Difficulty: Probably for seasoned cyclists.

What to bring: Warm clothes : It will probably be in the 20's when we start. Protect your head, hands and feet.
Check the Icebike site for information on how to dress for the cold.
                       Helmet required.
Some food : There will be stores about every 10-15 miles.
Water : Enough to get you from store to store. Perhaps more if their spigot is frozen.
Enough tools to change or repair a tube on your bike.

Other information: There really aren't any good bail out options on this ride. We pass through Oxford (the county seat) at 25 and 75 miles. You could stop there and call someone to come get you. But it's an out an back century, so there's no good way to shorten it.
I plan to ride as long as the forecast does not call for rain and ice. If it's dry and will get into the 30's, I'll ride. If it's going to be in the teens, I might just do a 50 mile trip where we bike 25 miles to Oxford, get a nice breakfast and bike 25 miles back. If it's below 10 F, I'll probably abort, but you're welcome to ride.
